• UNESCO Chair on Climate Change Variability of Natural and Cultural Heritage and Professor in Physics, James Cook University

Scott F. Heron, Ph. D., is Professor in Physics at James Cook University and the UNESCO Chair on Climate Change Vulnerability of Natural and Cultural Heritage, and is affiliated with NOAA Coral Reef Watch. His research involves synthesising physical processes with the biological and/or chemical characteristics of the environment in the context of the people who rely upon the environment. This includes coastal and near-shore environmental physics through satellite, coastal and in-water remote sensing; hydrodynamic modelling; and oceanographic and estuarine field studies. Scott is co-developer of the Climate Vulnerability Index (cvi-heritage.org), a rapid assessment tool for World Heritage and other protected areas.
