University of Gloucestershire

The University of Gloucestershire is a public university based in Gloucestershire, England. It is located over four campuses; two in Cheltenham and two in Gloucester.

The university’s history spans almost two centuries, and the current institution is the successor of a large number of merged, name-changed and reformed institutions of further and higher education established by both local government and founded by the Anglican Church. It’s earliest history begins with the Mechanics Institutes of Cheltenham (1834) and Gloucester (1840), the Anglican Cheltenham Training College (1847), and the Cheltenham School of Art (1852). By 1990 these and other successor institutions had merged into the Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education, which was awarded university status in 2001.

Today, the university provides over 100 undergraduate courses and around 70 taught post-graduate courses within three academic schools.
