Adam Hart is Professor of Conservation Ecology at the University of Gloucestershire. His research focuses on applied conservation ecology, particularly wildlife management and monitoring in southern Africa. He works on the ecology and management of savanna and grassland systems, wildlife survey methods, human-wildlife conflict and wildlife crime, with research involving protected areas and conservation organisations in South Africa and Zimbabwe. He also has longstanding research interests in social insects, animal behaviour and citizen science.
Alongside his academic research, Adam is an experienced science communicator, broadcaster and writer. He has presented numerous programmes for BBC television and radio, including BBC Two’s *Hive Alive*, BBC Four’s *Planet Ant: Life Inside the Colony*, and documentaries for BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service. He has also presented *Science in Action* for the BBC World Service and regularly contributes expert commentary on wildlife, ecology and conservation to national and international media.
Adam is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society and the Royal Society of Biology. He has published more than 150 scientific papers and has written extensively for general audiences, including several popular science books. His work spans academic research, practical conservation and public engagement, with a particular interest in understanding how ecological evidence can inform the management and conservation of wildlife.
