Before we chuck out the old way of seeing the doctor, we need to look at what might be lost.
Doctor communication is an important part of their education. But they can’t have unlimited empathy for their patients either, or they’d never get the job done.
With more demand on doctors and nurses and a push for quicker consultations, clinical empathy is being dwarfed by the need for efficiency.
