Xanthe Hunt is an early child development, disability, and global mental health researcher, with six years’ experience working in sub-Saharan Africa. She is a Senior Researcher at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, and a consultant to the World Health Organisation in Geneva, as well as London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in the UK. Her research spans early child development, mental health, disability studies, and public health monitoring and evaluation, largely focused on Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia and South Africa. Xanthe has a PhD in Psychology, and postgraduate education from Harvard and Stellenbosch Universities in epidemiology and clinical research methods. Xanthe is a member of the MAMI working group for mental health, the World Health Organization Developmental Disabilities Report Working Group, the 2018 recipient of the Stellenbosch University Chancellor’s Medal, an NIH Fogarty Fellow, and a 200 Young South African: https://200youngsouthafricans.co.za/xanthe-hunt-27/.
