Environmental scientist who specialises in application of nature-based solutions. His work uses field studies, trials, and spatial modelling to better understand woodland restoration and expansion processes to enhance resilience, functioning and ecosystem service provision. Work to date has focused around the restoration of UK native woodland restoration particularly Atlantic oak woodlands (NW Europe Temperate Rainforest). Also research interest in the use of 'Livingwalls' and other urban 'green infrastructure' to support enhanced environmental benefits in urban environments. He has worked across discipline boundaries on a number of projects for impactful outcomes which combine researchers, industry and practitioners. He has 10+ years of native woodland restoration practice, is lead author of State of SW England Temperate Rainforests, hosted the UKs first TRF conference, and supervises two Temperate Rainforest PhDs.
