Stig Jarle Hansen

Stig Jarle Hansen specialises in studies of war economy, security, political Islam, crime, and religion and development. His area of specialisation is the Horn of Africa and Arabia Felix (Middle East). He also has an interest in political philosophy, especially Islamic, and the British idealists.

Stig is also RUSI Senior Associate Fellow and currently Visiting Scholar at Stanford University in the Department of Center for International Security and Cooperation in the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies.

Hansen is frequently used as an expert commentator in the media and has appeared on global news channels such as the BBC, CNN and Al Jazeera, as well as Chinese channel 4.
