Simon Dickinson

(He/Him)

I am a lecturer in Human Geography who specialises in examining how people engage with disaster and crisis events. My research focuses on both the production and consumption of media during these periods. This includes, for example, live-streams of events (why do people stream their experiences of disasters and why do people engage with them?) and government/scientific data (what information do people seek during events and how does this information shape their behaviour?). I often explore these questions through a geographical lens - questioning how these medias create ephemeral communities that connect different people and places.
