My primary research interests are combustion features, human culinary technology and the use of fire among hunter-gatherers. My research involves experimental archaeology and also incorporates geochemical, digital and other analyses of burnt sediments and items. I worked on Sibudu Cave, KZN, for my PhD (Wits, 2014) and then started working at Klasies River as a postdoctoral research fellow at Wits (2014-2018). I am now at the SFF Centre for Early Sapiens Behaviour at the University of Bergen, Norway.
