Robert Phiddian is interested in political satire, parody, and humour. He also taught widely in mostly canonical literature, from Shakespeare, through Jonathan Swift, to James Joyce, and beyond. He researches political satire, especially Australian political cartoons. He was thrice Chair of the Adelaide Festival of Ideas, and has increasingly mournful interests both in the quality of public language and in writers' festivals.
