Qinisani Qwabe is a lecturer at the Nelson Mandela University in the Department of Agricultural Sciences. Qwabe obtained his undergraduate training in Agriculture: Rural Development and Extension, and completed both his MSc and PhD Degrees at the Nelson Mandela University and University of the Free State, respectively. His research centres around rural development and sustainable livelihoods within the agricultural context; with a specific focus on food systems and food security, agricultural development and extension, and indigenous knowledge systems (IKS). To-date, Qwabe has mentored and supervised seventeen students at postgraduate level; thirteen at a master’s level, three at honours level, and one PhD (all completed), and continues to mentor and supervise students at various levels. He has written numerous peer-reviewed articles, and continues to contribute to the body of knowledge through research and various forms of scholarship of engagement
