PhD awarded 2006 focussing on the Romans in the Middle East. Two books focussing on Rome's relationship with ancient Iran: Between Rome and Persia (2008); Rome and Persia at War (2021). Extensive teaching experience in this field and more broadly in Late Antiquity and Byzantium at Macquarie. PhD research and later research undertaken in the Middle East, especially Syria and Jordan.
