Mulumba works at the interface of sustainability science, policy, and private sector practice, focusing on how environmental governance and market systems can deliver real outcomes for biodiversity and climate. His work centres on environmental impact assessment, climate finance, and the integration of ecosystem services into business models and investment strategies.

He has experience working with governments and companies across Africa and Europe He has advised on restoration, agroforestry, carbon markets, and compliance with emerging sustainability regulations. He has led large programs that connect smallholder systems to global financing flows, while strengthening how institutions implement and monitor environmental interventions.

He has recently completed a PhD in Geography and Planning at the University of Liverpool. His research examined biodiversity inclusion, the mitigation hierarchy, and the performance of environmental governance systems in developing country contexts. He continues to research and publish on biodiversity in environmental assessment, climate finance, and sustainable land use, drawing on both academic work and field experience to shape practical, scalable approaches to climate resilience and restoration.
