Dr. Molly Babel is a Professor of Linguistics at the University of British Columbia. Molly’s research centres on the production, perception, and recognition of phonetic variation, using theories and methods from across the social and behavioural sciences to unpack our responses to voices, language, and people. This cross-disciplinary perspective deepens our understanding of how spoken language is a creative social and biological signal that is shaped by cognitive and social processes.
