- Max Weber Fellow in Law, European University Institute
Michael J. S. Beauvais is a Max Weber Fellow in the European University Institute’s Department of Law. Michael is currently researching how we regulate young people’s access to digital media and the Internet. His research interests – privacy, the regulation of technologies, and youth – lead him to explore issues in tort law, health law, data protection law, and related areas. His work bridges law with childhood studies, media studies, bioethics, and relational feminism. Michael earned his Doctor of Juridical Science from the University of Toronto. In his dissertation, he defended a conception of adolescents’ informational privacy against their parents, which earned him a Governor General’s Gold Medal. The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada has supported his postdoctoral and doctoral research. Michael is an affiliate of the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society at the University of Toronto and the Information Law Institute at New York University School of Law.
