Massimo Nunes is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, where he works under the mentorship of Distinguished Professor Resia Pretorius. With a focus on post-viral disease, namely myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and Long COVID, Dr. Nunes investigates the intersection of inflammation, coagulation, and vascular pathology. His expertise encompasses advanced laboratory techniques such as flow cytometry, mass spectrometry-based proteomics, and fluorescent and electron microscopy, along with other innovative experimental work. Apart from research, Dr. Nunes contributes to teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervises Honours and Masters projects, and passionately mentors of the next generation of scientists. He also serves as a reviewer for leading journals in his field and is a member of the World Society for Virology and the Golden Key Society.
