- Research Fellow, Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, European University Institute, European University Institute
I am an academic social scientist, historian, and policy thought-leader, with over a decade of experience in academic and policy research. My specialisms cover ideology studies, the theory and history of social democracy, European integration and UK–EU relations, and the political economy of education and skills.
I am Executive Director of the Lifelong Education Institute, supported by the thinktank ResPublica, and I have held fellowships at the University of Oxford, University of Nottingham, and the European University Institute in Florence.
I have worked with British, European, and global policymakers across the ideological spectrum on initiatives including school behaviour standards, lifelong learning pathways in strategic industries, fiscal policy in an independent Scotland, and a European Universal Basic Income.
I have published a number of books, journal articles, press contributions, reports, and book chapters for specialist audiences, as well as political parties, parliamentary bodies, and the wider public.
