Dr Maria Flood is Reader in World Cinema at Liverpool University. She has published widely in on Francophone and world cinema and political violence across different filmmaking traditions and genres. Her book publications: France, Algeria and the Moving Image: Screening Histories of Violence (Legenda, 2017); Moonlight: Screening Black Queer Youth (Routledge, 2021); and as co-editor, The Figure of the Terrorist in Literature and Visual Culture. She is currently working on a Leverhulme Trust funded project, titled Extremism on Screen: Tragedy and World Cinema after 9/11.
