Lorimer is Bradley Distinguished Professor at Adelaide University, on Kaurna Country in South Australia. His main interests are persistent pain and other protective feelings. He has authored over 430 scientific articles and eight books, including the three top selling pain books internationally. His public facing resources are viewed over 10 million times a year through the UK’s NHS, the USA’s Veteran’s Affairs and various apps and web-based pain programs. His contributions to the science of pain and its management have been recognised by government or professional society awards in 15 countries. In 2017 he founded the non-profit Pain Revolution and in 2020 he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for ‘distinguished served to humanity at large in the fields of pain and its management, science communication, education and physiotherapy.’
Lorimer is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health & Medical Sciences and the Australian College of Physiotherapy. He is an Honorary Fellow of the ANZCA Facultry of Pain Medicine, and an Honoured Member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
