Dr. Lianne Tomfohr-Madsen, a clinical health psychologist, is the former Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI) Professor in Child Health Psychology. She is currently an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia and the Canada Research Chair in Mental Health Equity.
Her research identifies relationships between physical health and psychosocial variables in the transition to parenthood. She is particularly interested in ways to optimize health trajectories in populations often excluded from health care. A main area of her work includes testing interventions in pregnancy that reduce parental stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia with the goal of improving parent and child mental and physical health trajectories. She is also interested in assessment and intervention using mobile technology.
