- Associate Professor of Sociology, Memorial University of Newfoundland
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Memorial University (St. John's, Canada) and teach courses on development, gender, globalization, and research methods. I research the political sociology of international development and globalization. My current program of research has two concentrations: (1) foreign aid as a transnational process of development; and (2) gender and political power in the developing world.
Prior to my academic career I worked for the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Canada's former foreign aid donor agency. I am a past-President of the Canadian Association for the Study of International Development (CASID).
In 2016-2017 I am a visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg Centre for Global Cooperation Research at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany.
