My research focuses on understanding the role of past climate changes and human activities on the biogeochemical cycle of metals. I use deposited lake sediments and tree rings as archives of past metal contamination to understand the natural cycle of these metals and to what extent humans have increased metal emissions since the start of the Industrial Revolution. The results of my research inform decision-making on metal contamination in Australia.
