Kevin Kriese is trained as a forester (BSF, UBC) and planner (MRM, SFU), and has a certificate in conflict resolution (JIBC). For over 30 years, he worked for the government of British Columbia designing and delivering land use plans, developing government-to-government agreements with Indigenous Nations, and leading organizational change.

He served in five different provincial ministries, was an Assistant Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, and served as chair of B.C.’s Forest Practices Board.

Kevin’s work centres on resolving resource conflicts in B.C. through collaboration and multidisciplinary problem-solving. His current interests include the intersection of forest management, climate change, water, and fire. Research areas include designing forest management plans and policies necessary to advance wildfire resilience. In addition to working with the POLIS Wildfire Resilience Project, Kevin is the planning and policy lead for the Bulkley Morice Wildfire Resilience Project (https://bvcentre.ca/wildfire-resilience/).
