Jonas Aryee is a Lecturer in Management and Maritime Business at the University of Plymouth, where he researches port governance, maritime policy, and the political and institutional dynamics shaping infrastructure development in Africa and beyond.

His work examines why state-granted infrastructure concessions - ports, terminals, and related public-private partnerships - succeed or collapse under political pressure, drawing on case research including Ghana's Port of Tema and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority. He holds a PhD from Aarhus University on the politicisation of digital transformation in developing-country ports, and has previously taught at the Regional Maritime University in Ghana, Nelson Mandela University in South Africa, and in Bangladesh.

Jonas's research has informed policy discussions at the Ministry of Transport of Ghana and international bodies including the Danida Fellowship Centre-funded PEPP research programme on port efficiency and public-private cooperation.
