John is an Associate Professor of Biomechanics at Adelaide University. He has more than fifteen years of experience applying biomechanical methods and data-analysis techniques across sporting and clinical environments to optimise human performance and health. His work is frequently cross-disciplinary, bridging sport science, engineering, and medicine. His teaching responsibilities involve course coordination and leadership for Biomechanics of Human Movement and Sports Biomechanics within the Exercise & Sport Science portfolio at Adelaide University.

Prior to his current position he held a CJ Martin Research Fellowship in musculoskeletal biomechanics at the University of Leeds, funded by the National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC). He has a range of skills and experience in biomechanical (laboratory-based) studies using a range of techniques such as motion capture, various biomechanical instrumentation, computational modelling and medical imaging. He is a member of the International Society of Biomechanics (ISB), the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports (ISBS), and the Footwear Biomechanics Group (FBG), a technical group of the ISB.
