I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2006 after which I worked at a local hospital in Liverpool. In 2012/2013 I completed a Masters in Health Research. In 2018 I started my PhD, in which I researched how to help someone to become more physically active after weight loss surgery to try to encourage better long term results. This is important because we know when someone loses a lot of weight in a short period of time, which is what happens with surgery, they lose fat mass but they can also lose muscle and bone mass. The amount of bone and muscle we have is really important for our health generally and even more so as we age so that we can be as fit, active and independent as possible.

I am now a physiotherapy lecturer and researcher based at the University of Liverpool. My research interests are physical activity, sedentary behaviour, behaviour change and obesity.
