Jeffrey Anvari-Clark

(he/him)

MA in social justice in intercultural relations, SIT Graduate Institute
MSW from University of Maryland School of Social Work
PhD from University of Maryland, Baltimore

My focus during MSW and PhD studies were on financial social work, and dissertation was on the financial domain of behavioral health. Between 2010 and 2019 I held several professional positions to help people with financially related concerns: ran an IRS sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, financial coaching, financial advising (Northwestern Mutual), and eviction prevention in West Baltimore.

Currently I teach and do research on:
- financial social work (how social workers of all types can address financial concerns among the populations they work with),
- the financial domain of behavioral health (how mental, physical, social, & coping health can all be intertwined with financial issues), and
- financial interdependence (how people make decisions in consideration of both a financial goal and how it'll impact their relationships with others; ways people engage with money as an expression of mutuality, i.e. savings groups).
