Heather Randell is a sociologist and demographer whose research examines the relationships between environmental change and population health and well-being. Her work uses quantitative and qualitative methods to address three primary areas of inquiry: (1) climate change, health, and sustainable development; (2) dam building, displacement, and environmental justice; and (3) the social and environmental drivers of migration. Much of this work is international in scope, with a particular focus on Brazil and East Africa. Dr. Randell received a PhD in Sociology from Brown University and is currently an Assistant Professor of Global and Social Policy in the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
