Dr Giada Pizzoni is a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence. Currently, she is working on sexual violence in the early modern Mediterranean. More broadly, she works on early modern social history. In 2015, she obtained her PhD at the University of St Andrews. Her thesis has become her first book: British Catholic Merchants in the Commercial Age, 1670-1714, in January 2020. From 2016 to 2019, she taught early modern European history at the University of Warwick. Between March 2019 and March 2020, as part of the AveTransRisk project (University of Exeter) she investigated the British presence in early modern Malta. Between 2005 and 2010, she studied early modern history at the University of Perugia.
