- Senior Lecturer in Ecology and Biogeography, Node & Stream Leader for ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous and Environmental Histories and Futures, University of Technology Sydney
- Research scientist, Australian Museum
Dr Frédérik Saltré is a Senior Lecturer in Ecology and Biogeography at University Technology Sydney, and also a Research Scientist at the Australian Museum Research Institute, in the Climate Solutions Centre. He is a Chief Investigator in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous and Environmental Histories and Futures.
He is an ecologist and biogeographer, focused on understanding how species and communities interact with their environments across spatial scales (from local to global) and temporal contexts (past, present, and future). His work encompasses plants, animals (including humans), and ecosystems in both terrestrial and marine environments. By applying advanced statistical methods and modelling, he investigates how species respond to environmental changes and the drivers behind biogeographic patterns of species diversity. This helps to evaluate the effectiveness of conservation strategies, policy decisions, and biodiversity management scenarios
He completed his PhD in Biology Geosciences Agro-resources and Environment at the Center for Functional and Evolutionary Ecology (CEFE) and the University Montpellier 2, France in December 2010 under the Supervision of Dr. Isabelle Chuine (CNRS) and Dr. Cédric Gaucherel (INRA). In 2011, He held a joint one year appointment with the Centre for Bio-Archaeology and Ecology and the School of Advanced Studies (EPHE) as Lecturer at Montpellier (France), and was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Oregon State University (USA) until 20113. From 2013 to 2017, he was an ARC Research Associate at the University of Adelaide. He then joined Flinders University as Research Fellow in Ecology and he was the Coordinator of the Global Ecology Laboratory working with Professor Corey Bradshaw. He was also Associate Investigator in the new ARC Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage.
