Fisayo Ajala holds a PhD in Sociology from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. His doctoral research explored the experiences of Nigerian military widows affected by the Boko Haram conflict, with a particular focus on their strategies for coping and survival in the absence of state support. His academic interests lie at the intersection of the armed forces and society, gender, peace, and security. He has published book reviews and scholarly articles in Critical Military Studies, Armed Forces & Society, African Security, LSE Review of Books, African Studies Quarterly, and The Republic: Journal of Nigerian Affairs.
