- Professor of Archaeology, University of the Witwatersrand
I am an associate professor of archaeology at the University of the Witwatersrand and specialist in palaeoanthropology and geoarchaeology. I am the director of research at the Sterkfontein Caves in South Africa and lead an international research team focusing on the fossil and artefact assemblages recovered from the Sterkfontein Caves over the last 80 years. This includes includes playing a central role in the research of the most complete early hominin skeleton, Little Foot. I co-edited the recently completed special issue presenting the first data on the Little Foot skeleton. My personal research focuses on the stratigraphy and context of fossil- and artefact-bearing deposits from caves and rock shelters.
