Dawid is an expert in Neogene-Quaternary mammals and the application of digital techniques to fossil research. His primary research interests include palaeoneurology, palaeobiology, and the evolutionary history of large carnivores. He has participated in numerous palaeontological expeditions and excavations both in Italy and internationally, notably in Tanzania's Olduvai and Laetoli areas. He serves on the Transnational Scientific Committee of the Monte San Giorgio UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Author of both scientific and popular articles, he is also an accomplished scientific illustrator, specializing in the reconstruction of ancient ecosystems and animals. His works are featured in books, scientific journals, and museum exhibits
