Australia is famous for its lizards and snakes. But we found at least 127 species are threatened – almost twice as many as previously thought.

Invasive alien species become much harder and more expensive to manage as they establish and spread through the landscape. So preventing their arrival is vital.
The simulation showed catching cane toads once a week involved 85% less cost and effort than other strategies, but was just as effective.
With targeted conservation action, we might just save many of these species before it’s too late.
