Cory Dakota Satter

Cory Satter is a PhD candidate with the University of Florida's Sahel Research Group, where he is currently focused on a dissertation project studying the political ecology of urban flooding and disaster in the African Sahel. His dissertation compares the responses to severe urban flooding in Dakar (Senegal), N'Djamena (Chad), and Nouakchott (Mauritania). Beyond disaster politics, Satter's research interests also include examining the existential factors that drive violent extremism and armed conflict. He holds degrees in Political Science from Arizona State University and International Cooperation on Human Rights from the University of Bologna. He speaks English, French, and Italian fluently, and is advanced in Arabic, Portuguese, and Spanish. He enjoys traveling and is currently based in France.
