Professor at DTU Engineering Technology at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). I have an affiliation with University of Massachusetts- Lowell, USA and is currently a visiting senior fellow at Nottingham Trent University, UK. During my PhD at DTU, I studied management of knowledge work and how to redesign the organizational design to prevent of work-related stress. I have led a number of research projects in collaboration with industry focusing on sustainable work and management i.e. how to safeguard both employee wellbeing and performance and how companies can implement preventive changes. My research is published in a number of books and papers. Since 2015, part of my research has focused on distance management, working from home and in particular the role of new digital technologies. In March 2020, I initiated an international survey of experiences of WFH where some of the results are now published. My current research projects focus on distance managers’ wellbeing and how organizations can support them and how to design organizations that have the capability to ensure both organizational performance and employee-well-being in tandem.
