- Directrice de recherche en Bioacoustique à l'UMRAE, Cerema
I'm a researcher in Bioacoustics at the Joint Research Unit in Environemental Acoustics (UMRAE) that merges researchers from CEREMA and from University Gustave Eiffel, France.
For years, the goal of my research has been to understand how animals communicate and eavesdrop acoustically, which involves the study of both information signaling (coding) and information recognition (decoding). In the last 15 years, I've been working on characterizing the anti-predator behavioral strategies of several cetacean species by using playback experiments of killer whale sounds.
Given th importance of sound for the survival of marine mammals, I've focused my expertise in assessing the effects of anthropogenic noise (e.g. ship noise, offshore windfarm) on these animals' communication and behavior. I’ve been also working on developing innovative bioacoustics tools for species monitoring and for attractive/deterrent objectives.
