Charlene Elliott

Charlene Elliott is a Professor and Research Excellence Chair at the University of Calgary and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute. Her program of research focuses on food marketing, policy and children’s health (including how marketing creates and influences food perceptions and meanings). She has published over 125 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has edited several books. She held a Canada Research Chair on Food Marketing Policy & Children’s Health (2011-2022) and was inducted into the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists (2016). She has provided input and recommendations on federal and international initiatives pertaining to food, labelling and policy. Alongside her academic research, Dr. Elliott also leads an innovative KT initiative that brings evidence-based Media Literacy & Food Marketing programming to schools and youth organizations across Canada.
