I lead the Food & Health Information Team for Plant & Food Research, based in Lincoln, and have been on the staff there for over 35 years. I completed my BSc (Hons) then obtained a PhD in plant biochemistry in 1994 (both from the University of Canterbury). A fellowship at the University of Glasgow in 1997 fuelled my interest in the role of plant pigments in human health.
