Brendan Clift is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Law & Justice at UNSW Sydney, having previously worked at the University of Melbourne and the University of Hong Kong. He holds a PhD in law and master’s degrees in law and journalism, and is admitted to legal practice in Australia. He worked around Asia-Pacific in law, legal publishing and the media prior to joining academia.

Brendan’s research focuses on media law, particularly defamation, and on law, politics and society in Asia, with a special interest in Hong Kong. His work also touches on intellectual property, torts and criminal law. He is General Editor of the Media & Arts Law Review, a frequent contributor to reference works including Halsbury’s Laws, and co-author of Australian Media Law (6th ed).
