I am a social anthropologist whose research interests include Papua New Guinea, global prediction markets, politics, gambling, money, corruption and number.
I wrote a book about gambling in Papua New Guinea, there gambling has become a field in which economically marginalized people get very creative with money, and try to take charge of their destiny against insurmountable odds.
My current research project is on political gambling and prediction markets as capitalism-friendly technologies for capturing the future. The research is at an early stage and I have not drawn any conclusions.
