• Postdoctoral Researcher in Urban Planning, Department Human Geography, Planning, and International Development, University of Amsterdam

Annemiek Prins is an urban anthropologist specialized in informal mobilities. She works as a postdoctoral researcher in Urban Planning at the University of Amsterdam, as part of the Common_Access project. Her work explores the unequal distribution of mobility, connectivity, and circulation. Some of her previous research focused on cycle-rickshaw mobilities and infrastructural mega-projects in Dhaka, Bangladesh, looking specifically at the legacy of (colonial) modernity in shaping mobility landscapes and urban imaginaries. In her current postdoc position, Annemiek looks at how suburban and rural communities in the Netherlands try to (re)claim accessibility as a common good amidst various processes of enclosure.
