Zahra Shahhoseini

I hold a PhD in Transport Engineering from the University of Melbourne, where my research focused on the impacts of architectural design on evacuation dynamics and human crowd behaviors. Additionally, I have an MSc in Transport and Urban Planning, where I specialized in advanced transport network modeling, and a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering. My professional experience spans a diverse range of projects at the intersection of urban infrastructure, public health, and resilience.

As a lecturer at RMIT University, I work on interdisciplinary projects that address urban resilience, public safety, disaster risk reduction, and infrastructure planning. I have led and contributed to the development of agent-based evacuation models, city-wide equity analyses, and frameworks for integrating social vulnerability into government investment decisions and city planning policy.

My work includes creating integrated transport strategies for multiple councils and government agencies, developing tolerable risk frameworks for land use planning, and advancing smart and resilient city initiatives using innovative analytical and digital approaches.

Across all projects, my focus has been on applying evidence-based methodologies to deliver practical, equitable, and future-proof solutions for urban environments.
