Yvonne Rowa Woods is a PhD candidate at the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Adelaide. Her research examines the dynamics of radicalisation within the context of securitisation of protracted refugee situations. Prior to her candidature, Yvonne pursued a career in the field of peace, security and governance, or more broadly, democratisation and conflict transformation. She has worked in various conflict and post-conflict countries, most recently serving in Somalia. Her thematic orientation spans the realms of security provision and governance; small arms and light weapons management; access to justice; protection; civic engagement; good governance and public accountability; human rights promotion, among other areas across the conflict transformation gamut. Yvonne has served in different technical capacities as an advisor/analyst and practitioner in programme development, capacity building, research, and lobby and advocacy. She is involved as a mentor with the Young African Leaders Initiative, the Australian Refugee Association, The Smith Family, among other informal mentorships.
