I am an environmental humanities scholar, poet, nature writer, environmental filmmaker and mountaineer, and hold I hold a readership in english literature and creative writing. I have carried out a decade of academic research on authors’ ecological activism, including Ken Saro-Wiwa’s opposition to Shell and my books include Ted Hughes: Environmentalist and Ecopoet (Palgrave, 2017), Burning Season (Bloodaxe, 2023) and Anthropocene Poetry (Palgrave, 2023). I am the daughter and granddaughter of petroleum engineers.

She is the recipient of awards from the Poetry Society, New Writing North and the Poetry School, and her work is widely published in newspapers and magazines. She and the wildlife filmmaker Aleksander Domanski made the documentary Searching for Snow Hares (2023).
