I completed my PhD in Applied Finance at the University of South Australia in September 2020. Since completing my PhD, I have held consecutive research-intensive appointments that have allowed me to build an independent research portfolio. My research spans corporate finance, ESG disclosure, CEO characteristics, corporate scandals and fraud, default risk, and anti-money laundering. I have published over 15 peer-reviewed journal articles, including in high-quality journals such as Accounting & Finance, Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, and Celebrity Studies.
Key contributions include: 1) Pioneering research on CEO behavioural traits and their influence on firm-level innovation, performance, and climate strategy; 2) Examining time-sensitive impacts of corporate governance on firm default risk, including a natural experiment around the Global Financial Crisis; 3) Advancing the understanding of symbolic versus substantive ESG disclosure and the ethics of opportunistic corporate behaviour; 4) Investigating cross-country differences in money laundering’s financial consequences, with implications for financial regulation and enforcement.
