I have worked throughout institutions in the US and UK and currently hold a full professorship in Literature, with expertise in contemporary poetry, and the plight of migration. My research has taken me through refugee camps in the Middle East, Europe, and asylum seeker centers in the UK. I pursue a holistic view of displacement.

I am the author of a scholarly monograph on the spatial remifications of New York Poetry, as well as the editor of two further collections on New York School poetry, and a "Migration Culture and Identity: Making Home Away."

I am the co-founder of the AHRC funded network for New York School Poetry
I am also the principal investigator of www.makinghomeaway.com

My writing and research on how refugees pursue senses of home in displacement has been awarded prizes from PEN America, the Leverhulme Trust, and the British Academy most recently. In my free time, I lead writing workshops with refugees, and continue to flesh out pursuits of engaging with resettlement more humanely.
