- Professor, Computer and Information Sciences, University of Strathclyde
I am a full Professor at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, where I lead the Cybersecurity group in the Department of Computing and Information Sciences. I hold a PhD in Computer Science. My career in Computing spans industry and academia. As an academic, my key interests lie in understanding the needs of real people and informing the design of digital technologies that cater for them. I collaborate across disciplines and am adept at translating between them. I have over 70 peer-reviewed publications in journals, conference proceedings and books. Before becoming an academic, I worked in Fintech, Utilities, and manufacturing sectors as a database designer, analyst, and programmer.
With my team, I carry out research into lived experience in the Digital Age, with a focus on cybersecurity, online identity, reputation, and trust. We traverse disciplinary boundaries, drawing on Human-Computer Interaction, psychology, sociology, digital anthropology and design. We welcome collaboration with researchers in the UK and internationally.
