I'm an Afghan-American filmmaker and academic. Currently I'm an assistant professor of media studies at Temple University and the one of the inaugural Jack Shaheen senior fellows at NYU, where I have my graduate degrees from. My recent book, "Television and the Afghan Culture Wars", is the first ethnographic account of the situation in Afghanistan that centers the perspectives of Afghans in its analysis of the impact of US interventions in Afghanistan.
