Wayne Rimmer's PhD research at the University of Manchester investigates direct speech within Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, specifically the function of protagonists' questions as units of discourse within the wider narratological structure of the poems. Related research interests include lexicography, corpus linguistics and discourse analysis.
In his language teacher role, Wayne has published several pedagogical titles with Cambridge University Press. Connecting his experience as an educator to his classical scholarship, he is passionate about making the Greek and Roman world accessible and enjoyable to as wide an audience as possible.
